On the occasion of World Photography Day, which was observed on 19th August, the PICA social media team launched an inter-architecture college photography competition. “Life through a Monochromatic Eye” served as the topic. Through this competition, we appreciate the amazing talent and passion people share for photography.

To solemnize this day, Pillai College of Architecture held a photography competition by engaging Architecture students from all colleges of Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. It took place on the 19th August, 2022 through the virtue of Instagram and google forms. The supervision was done by Prof. Tushara Kaliyath. The top 10 entries were shortlisted by our Judges, Mr. Mangesh Mhasavade and Mr. Aslam Saiyad. About 165 entries were received under Students Category and 50 entries received under Professional Category. Out of which our judges shortlisted 10 per category of which3 winners were selected by voting done on an Instagram story poll for the student’s category and a judge-based selection for the professional category.

After carefully examining each display, the winners were announced, bringing the event to a proper conclusion. Deepak Nisad and Ankita Chavan, both from PICA, were the first and second runners-up in the photography competition, respectively. Divya Patil, a member of BVCOA, took first place. Samiksha Koyande, a contributor from BVCOA, received special recognition for her work. Similarly, Swaraj Patil took first place in the professional category. Somesh Kiran Mhatre and Imran Mohammed Dastagir placed first and second, respectively. The winners were congratulated by uploading their winning submissions on PICA’s Instagram page.
