10th Advanced Architecture Competition

We are proud to announce that one of our faculty members teamed up with a student to participate in an international competition and secured laurels.

The team of PiCA Professor Smita Dalvi, PiCA final year student Shah Faisal, and Prof. Mustansir Dalvi (Sir JJ College of Architecture) have received an ‘Honourable Mention’ for their entry: ‘Gaza: 2nd Responder Protocols’; in the the 10th Advanced Architecture Competition, organised by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC) that had, as its theme:’AI for the Built Environment’. Their entry responded to the specific themes of Regenerative Decarbonisation and Radical Self Sufficiency.

The team was placed joint 5th from 20 international entries shortlisted (out of more than 100 entries from 70 countries worldwide). The announcement was made on 26th February 2024.

Designs were sought to respond to specific themes (like Regenerative Decarbonisation, Planetary Automation, Radical Self Sufficiency, etc.). Winning entries were chosen for their narrative capacity, relevance to topics, design quality and innovations, and using an integration of AI and non-AI tools at a series of scales of intervention.

Our team was placed joint 5th from 20 international entries shortlisted (out of more than 100 entries from 70 countries worldwide). The announcement was made on 26th February, 2024.
