Masters in Architecture (General) – Program Overview
The Master’s in General Architecture is a two-year postgraduate program open to both fresh graduates and practicing professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in architecture. The program offers specializations in Urban Design, Sustainability, and Conservation, which are awarded based on the student’s academic interests and focus areas, rather than predefined tracks.
Upon successful completion, students receive a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree from Mumbai University. They are also awarded a Certificate of Specialization by the institute in their chosen focus area, enhancing their academic and professional credentials. This dual recognition significantly broadens students’ employability in fields such as architecture, urban development, sustainability consulting, conservation, and research.
Designed to address the complex and evolving needs of the built environment, the program integrates interdisciplinary knowledge across design, planning, environmental stewardship, and heritage conservation. Structured over four semesters, it begins with a solid foundation in core subjects and studio-based learning, while the second year enables students to pursue electives and a Final Design Thesis aligned with their career goals.
Through a combination of research, hands-on learning, fieldwork, and expert interaction, students develop the ability to analyze, design, and implement contextually responsive solutions. The program emphasizes critical thinking, technical skills, and real-world application through projects that reflect contemporary challenges. Graduates emerge as forward-thinking professionals equipped to lead and innovate in shaping sustainable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environments.
