The two hours long guest lecture commenced with the introduction of a set of questions including, What is a project, who makes the brief, who are users, what is architecture etc. This acted as brain storming session for all the 3rd semester students and it kick started their thinking towards signifying the users and site equally for the success of an architecture project.


The lecture further opened up the practice dimension of architecture profession by showing the two projects that the architect is leading, one in Binka village of Orissa and another one in Nagaland. The two project were chosen for this presentation particularly to inform students how natural features of any given site can help in developing eco friendly architecture and how surrounding communities and the user of the project can contribute to the low cost and affordable choice of material and construction techniques.

Each project was discussed with an intention of streamline student’s thoughts towards the design project and their approaches in general and also with specific to their weekend home AD studio project. This also had an interactive discussion on what is architecture student’s perception and what is practicing architect’s student’s perception on how architecture should act as solution to the problems of society and the site challenges.

The session ended with the felicitation of the guest lecturer and a brief question answer round.
