The two hours long session began with the introduction to speakers by Prof. Tanaya Deka. The presentation was given by Architect Keshav Chikodi on his experiences in a variety of projects through his journey. The presentation mainly highlighted his Professional Experience and Knowledge to the students on following topics.

  1. Professional Practice
  2. Internship (Skills Required)
  3. Job / Entrepreneurship / Start-up

The take away from his discourse was that the architects must be proud of our heritage and have a capability to do better. He shared his Professional experiences from his work in USA with different firms.

He introduced students with various government departments and shared a list of legal documents needed from approval to completion of the project.

Under Internship or developing various Skills the first step is to identify the goal, then types of project that interest us and finally deciding upon the firm size where there is a scope to develop the skills required.

The insight was given regarding a path to start up architect’s own practice discussing various issues related to it. Approaching clients, participation in various competition and other possibilities were discussed that are required for starting up and a successful practice.

The scope for further education and opportunities in other fields allied to architecture were also discussed during the discourse.

The seminar was successful with the active participation of the students who shared their views and queries with respect to the internship, skills development, starting up one’s own practice and further education opportunities within India and abroad.

The students expressed how useful was the discourse and the presentation was, how it provided a different perspective to look at the future and also got their queries answered.

The Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Jui Choughule.
