Hemoglobin testing and CPR training camp, held on 27th January, 2025, at the Stilt Area of Pillai campus and organized by Pillai College of Architecture (PiCA), was under Women Development Cell and Anubhuti, in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad to promote health awareness and life-saving skills among students and staff. The camp was open for the entire Pillai campus Female students and staff. The initiative featured two key activities: a Hemoglobin Testing Camp and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Training. It also supported the national mission Anemia Mukta Bharat by implementing its goals on campus through active community engagement

This initiative directly aligned with the Government of India’s Anemia Mukta Bharat mission, which addresses the widespread issue of anemia—especially among women and children. Many people remain unaware of low hemoglobin levels until they face symptoms such as fatigue and weakness.

The camp, facilitated in association with Bharat Vikas Parishad, offered students and staff free testing, along with expert consultations. Health professionals provided guidance on nutrition, iron intake, and lifestyle adjustments, reinforcing the importance of early detection and ongoing health monitoring.

Simultaneously, certified trainers conducted CPR training to equip participants with critical emergency response skills. The session covered vital techniques such as chest compressions and rescue breaths, emphasizing the importance of remaining calm and acting swiftly during medical emergencies. This practical knowledge could help save lives in critical situations before professional help arrives.

Dr. Kirti Samudra is a seasoned medical practitioner with over 39 years of experience in internal medicine, specializing in endocrinology and diabetology. She earned her MBBS (1986) and MD (1990) from Government Medical College, Nagpur.

Currently, she leads the Diabetes Care Clinic in New Panvel East, Navi Mumbai, where she focuses on managing diabetes and related endocrine conditions. Dr. Samudra is also a strong advocate for public health awareness, regularly conducting community outreach programs—including anemia awareness camps and educational talks. Her commitment to preventive care and public education is reflected in her engagement with institutions like PiCA and health-focused media platforms.

Hemoglobin Testing Camp:

  • Focus on early detection and prevention of anemia.
  • One-on-one health consultations with nutritional guidance.

CPR Training:

  • Hands-on training in chest compressions and rescue breaths.
  • Emphasis on emergency readiness and confident response.

The event successfully promoted awareness around women’s health and emergency preparedness. Participants were empowered with:

  • A better understanding of anemia and the importance of regular health checks.
  • Practical, life-saving CPR skills that can make a difference in emergency situations.

This initiative not only contributed to individual well-being but also supported broader public health goals, aligning with national campaigns and strengthening community resilience.
