The Women Development Cell of Pillai College of Architecture initiated an Anemia Mukt Bharat campaign in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad and SIBC, along with PiCA Anubhuti and PiCA Senate members. On 6th September, 2023, an event was organized exclusively for all the women within the Pillai campus, including female students, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as all female support staff.

Departments such as PCE, PCACS, PIMSR, Pillai Institute of Languages, Pillais Institute of Mass Media, and Pillai’s Institute of Fashion Technology were warmly invited to participate in the hemoglobin testing camp and CPR training.

Dr. Kirti Samudra, President of Bharat Vikas Parishad, along with a team of 10 doctors, arrived at the venue on the event day. The venue was prepared according to the BVP coordinator’s requirements and was ready for the significant event. The camp commenced at 8:45 am with a large number of female participants. The venue featured a registration desk for pre-registration, three blood testing stations, a medicine prescription desk, a remedial food distribution desk, and a reusable cloth bag distribution desk. Participants were given reusable bags and pledged to avoid using plastic bags as a step towards “Plastic Mukt Bharat,” another flagship project by Bharat Vikas Parishad.

Dr. Kirti Samudra personally counseled the participants, emphasizing the importance of maintaining healthy hemoglobin levels. Each participant received chickpeas and jaggery packets, known for their efficacy in boosting hemoglobin levels.

Once their hemoglobin testing was completed, participants were directed to the CPR training conducted on the ground floor by an experienced team of doctors. CPR training proved to be a valuable initiative for handling emergencies.

The camp received an overwhelming response from students across various departments. Student council members played a pivotal role in ensuring the camp’s smooth operation, guiding students in batches, and providing support to those who were apprehensive.

The teaching faculty, non-teaching female staff, and support staff also turned out in significant numbers to participate in the camp. Dr. K.M. Vasudevan, the founder of the institution, attended the camp, underwent hemoglobin testing, and encouraged all participants to prioritize their health, as they represent the future inspirers of the country. He commended the organizers for their dedicated efforts.

The guests were honored by Dr. K.M. Vasudevan, Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, and Prof. Shubhangi Bhide. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to all the guests and the organizing committees. The camp was a tremendous success, with approximately 715 hemoglobin tests and CPR training sessions completed.
