The annual Jumble Sale was back with a bang after 3 years at Pillai Campus, Panvel. Covid related protocols had prevented us from holding this activity for two consecutive years.
The faculty members of MES and PICA in association with SIBC (Soroptimists International Bombay Chembur) organized a Jumble Sale on 13th October, 2022, at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel. The members collected usable clothes, bedsheets, shoes, bags, toys and other household items and put it up for sale at marginal prices starting from Rs. 10 to Rs. 200. The funds raised from the event are to be used for the various social welfare activities of MES and SIBC. Around 500 people from nearby slums and shanties visited the sale. The unsold items at the end of the day were donated to the SEAL Ashram in Navi Mumbai, as is our usual practice.
The Jumble Sale is an annual event at our campus which is very popular among our support staff and people living in the bastis and slums nearby. Student members of Anubhuti, the social service wing of PICA participated in collecting, sorting of material and managing the sale counters, along with student volunteers of other institutions on the campus.
Prof. Sudnya Mahimkar, PiCA Principal inaugurated the event. Prof. Smita Dalvi, PiCA Professor helped in co-ordination on the day of the event.
