After a week-long visit to Rajasthan, the important part in students’ architecture course after a study tour is the documentation of the same. Educational tours play a key role in shaping the overall growth of students. They go beyond regular studies, letting students learn in a fun way. These trips teach them about different cultures, help them make friends, and show them how to take care of our environment.
Documentation of a study tour is crucial in an architecture project as it serves as a record of learning, a resource for future reference, and a tool for reflection and improvement. It helps students and instructors analyze their experiences, compare different architectural styles and design approaches, and solidify their understanding of the subject matter.
For students, documenting their study tour experiences can be a valuable addition to their portfolio, showcasing their research skills, observational abilities, and understanding of architectural principles.
The documentation started on 19th November till 24th November with final exhibition on 25th November 2024 in the studio. All the worksheets and even the models were displayed so that the other students and faculties could visit the exhibition and guide them. Students were expected to document and map the living heritage of Jaisalmer: The living fort of Jaisalmer. Students understood/ studied the communities, their settlements, built form and passive design strategies that were applied in the process of generation of the settlement.
