Objectives of the Visit:
- To conduct on-site case studies of large span roofs
- To understand the spanning and supporting systems of various large trusses.
- To document connections and joinery details of such structures.
Overview of the Visit:
A total of 47 students and 3 faculty members participated in the visit. The following places were visited:
- CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi
- Turbhe Station
- Koparkhairane station
- Ghansoli Station
- Airoli Station
- Belpada Metro station
- Panvel Station
Key Learnings:
The students could appreciate the size, scale and construction details including joinery details of various structural elements involved in large steel trusses. They could also appreciate the aesthetic and design values of such roofs that cover vast public spaces.

Conclusions :
Each site was allotted to a group of students to make detailed presentations in the class. This allowed the site learnings to be properly documented and discussed in the classroom.
