On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Pillai College of Architecture organized a road cleaning drive on the streets of New Panvel. The event aimed to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of cleanliness and community service, promoting a cleaner and greener environment. The event began at around 10 a.m. and ended at around 11:00 a.m. once the targeted streets were decently cleaned. The cleanliness drive began with an extensive clean-up drive, focusing on the main streets and public areas of New Panvel.
Around 28 participants along with 1 faculty member participated in the drive and the participants were divided into teams and equipped with brooms, trash bags, and cleaning supplies.
The event succeeded in creating awareness about cleanliness and the need for active community participation in maintaining public spaces. A significant amount of litter and garbage was collected and properly disposed of during the clean-up drive. The event exemplified the enduring importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals in today’s world and served as a testament to the power of community action.
