The session started with introducing Ar. Salil Keny, Alumni of Pillai college of architecture Working as A Job Captain/ Designer in Kenneth Boroson Architects, New Haven- Connecticut, USA.
The objective of the session was students can have one to one discussion with him and understand how to cope with the different the life style, culture, food etc. also the major problem how to tackle finances. Etc. while pursuing there post graduate degree overseas.
Salil started his talk with how to select university for admission, considering the university level, also one as to look for the city its lifestyle distance from where you stay, this will help in deriving how much you need to spend and how you can save , secondly the course time whether its 2years, 1-1/2 years course and visa period extended after completion. He also spoke of the work folio the students should make and get verified, which help in getting admission. He spoke regarding selecting field in which you are interested and want to develop as a career in future. Don’t select just because your friend had opt for it.
He also explain his experience in US, various jobs he did how he selected them, which helped him in completion of his course. He told students doing a part time job to earn is necessary but selecting a proper job is more important.
The students also asked various questions related to architecture working style abroad, what are the skills they need to develop etc. Salil showed presentation of his work done abroad. He also interacted with the students regarding when to start applying and preparation needed for the exam.
The session ended on a thank you note.
