This Felicitation Ceremony stands as a testament to the collective effort and excellence of the PiCA community. Together, they continue to strive for greatness, bringing pride and honor to Pillai College of Architecture.
The Pillai College of Architecture (PiCA) organized a grand felicitation ceremony to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of its esteemed faculty and brilliant students. The event, held on July 3, 2024, in the 7th-floor auditorium, was hosted by Prof. Ashwini Bhosale and organized by the dedicated Student Council team under the supervision of Prof. Ashwini Bhosale and Prof. Jayesh Patil.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Ashwini Bhosale, who expressed her gratitude and pride in the collective achievements of the PiCA community. The audience included the esteemed Principal, Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, faculty members, non-administrative staff, and the students whose hard work and dedication were the focus of the celebration.
To mark the auspicious beginning of the event, Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, along with several distinguished faculty members including Prof. Sanjay Shirgaonkar, Prof. Prashant Potdar, Dr. Neha Sayeed, Prof. Harshada Katkar, Prof. Sarojini Lahot, Prof. Suvarna Thakre, Prof. Rupali Vaidya, and Prof. Sasmit Acharekar, performed the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. This ritual symbolized enlightenment, knowledge, and wisdom.
The ceremony honored several faculty members for their exceptional contributions:
Prof. Dr. Smita Dalvi – Recognized for her longstanding contributions to MES Institute, her numerous publications and awards, her appointment as Chairperson of the Ad-hoc Board of Studies in Architecture at the University of Mumbai, and her recently published book “Celebrating India in 75 Buildings”.
Prof. Suvarna Thakre – For presenting a paper at the national conference on ‘Satellite Towns: Urban Design and Planning and Provisions for Mental Health – A Road Forward with the Case of Navi Mumbai’.
Prof. Shital Maralpalle – For being granted a Design Patent for “Soil Extractor Equipment” by the Patent Office, Government of India.
Additionally, faculty members who attended various Faculty Development Programs for the academic year 2023-24 were recognized: Prof. Neha Deshpande, Prof. Rupali Vaidya, Prof. Ajita Deodhar, Prof. Suvarna Thakare, Prof. Tushara Kaliyath, and Prof. Ashwini Bhosale.
The event celebrated the achievements of numerous students across various categories:
Participation in “Advait 23” Thematic RYLA for Architecture Students: Certificates were distributed by Prof. Smita Dalvi and Prof. Harshada Katkar to students including Mrunal Khandare, Saish, Anuj Vichare, and others.
Winners of the National Competition to Reimagine Necklace Road: Prof. Sarojini Lahot and Dr. Neha Sayeed presented certificates to Tanvi Sonar, Vedika Kadam, Vaishnavi Survase, Faiz Kaisu, and Harita Nair.
Contributors to the NAAC Self-Study Report: Recognized by Prof. Rupali Vaidya and Prof. Aarti Mankame for their work on the Student Council Panels.
Certificates for the Student Work Panels were distributed by Prof. Snehal Ghag and Prof. Suvarna Thakre.
25 Years of PiCA Alumni Exhibition: Facilitated by Prof. Smita Dalvi and Prof. Jinu Kurien.
Faculty Criteria Display Panels: Acknowledged by Prof. Sasmit Acharekar and Prof. Prathamesh Deshpande.
PICA Campus Display Team: Recognized by Prof. Ajita Deodhar and Prof. Sayalee Kulkarni.
Laboratories Preparation Team: Certificates presented by Prof. Neha Deshpande and Prof. Jasmine.
Logistics and Hospitality Team: Supervised by Prof. Prathamesh Deshpande and Prof. Snehal Ghag, certificates were distributed by newly joined faculty members, Prof. Jagrati Shegal, Prof. Abhilasha Singh, and Prof. Kirti Lonekar.

Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar addressed the gathering, commending the efforts and achievements of both faculty and students. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Prof. Ashwini Bhosale, acknowledging the support of the Principal, the Pillai Institute Management Team, Student Council and the relentless efforts of the admin staff & maushis.
The event was a resounding success, celebrating the dedication and hard work of the PiCA community and setting a high benchmark for future achievements.
