Introduction

The Induction Day marked the beginning of the academic journey for the new batch of architecture students at PiCA. The event was designed to welcome the incoming students and their parents, familiarise them with the institute’s vision, structure, and work culture, and set the tone for the upcoming Orientation Week. The programme combined formal introductions, informative presentations, and interactive sessions to create an engaging and inspiring start to the academic year.


Event Schedule and Highlights

The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. with registration for students and parents, accompanied by introductory videos showcasing the institute’s culture and student works.

At 10:30 a.m., Prof. Aarti Mankame delivered the Welcome Address, setting a warm and encouraging tone for the day. This was followed by the auspicious ‘Deep Prajwalan’ ceremony led by Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, along with senior faculty members Prof. Sanjay Shirgaonkar, Dr. Neha Sayeed, Prof. Indu Sudheer, Prof. Sarojini Lohot, and Prof. Sasmit Acharekar, symbolising the start of a new academic year.

Prof. Aarti Mankame then introduced and welcomed Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, who addressed the gathering and provided an overview of the Institutional Structure, Faculty Team, Course Curriculum, and Academic Framework. Her presentation offered valuable insights into the educational philosophy and learning approach of the institute.

Following this, Prof. Sasmit Acharekar delivered a talk on work culture and discipline, emphasising the importance of professional conduct and collaborative learning within architectural education.

Prof. Rupali Vaidya shared important information about the examination system, explaining the evaluation structure and academic expectations.

Dr. Amruta Khairnar followed with a brief presentation on master’s programmes, outlining opportunities for higher studies and professional specialisation. Prof. Ashwini Bhosale introduced the PiCA Student Council, highlighting its role in fostering leadership, teamwork, and creative initiatives within the student community.

Prof. Aarti Mankame announced the winning entry of the Studio Reel Competition, celebrating student creativity and innovation.

A short question-and-answer session with Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar allowed parents and students to clarify academic and administrative queries.

The event concluded with the Orientation Week Movie Introduction by Prof. Nitya Pratap, followed by her Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to faculty, staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation.

After the event the parents & students visited the exhibition for the orientation week workshop put up on the ground floor studio.

The Induction Day served as a meaningful introduction to the academic environment at PiCA. It provided students and parents with clarity on institutional processes, expectations, and opportunities. The event fostered a sense of belonging and enthusiasm among the new students while reinforcing the school’s commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and community engagement.
