Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai group of Institutions celebrated International Women’s day on 8th March, 2023 at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, Sector 16, New Panvel. To Celebrate this day, The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Pillai College of Architecture along with faculty members attended the felicitation programme of Ms. Swathi Mukharjee, who is the recipient of soroptimist excellence award 2023 and is a managing trustee of Vatsalya foundation.

The program was arranged in the conclave and it began as Ms. Swathi addressed the attendees. She began her speech with a prayer “Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, guru devo Maheshwara, guru sakshat parabrahma, tasmaishree guruvenamaha. With these lines she said that she believes that somewhere we all are connected in this universe where the Guru has shown us the path to get connected. And to be connected with any kind of social work one has to be polite which means you should be – P-passionate, O-observant, L-listening, I – innovative, T-train yourself, E-Empathy. One should be on the ground to see and observe and work with the kids who stay on the streets as they treat it as their home.

After the many enlighting words from Ms. Swathi, she was felicitated by Ms. Daphnie Pillai , Chairperson, management board, MES and former president of Soroptimist International Bombay, Chembur. An organization which is affiliated to the international body Soroptimist International, that works for the welfare of women and girl child. The theme of soroptimist International is Educating, Empowering and Enabling” women to build better lives for themselves. This year the theme is “Embrace Equity”.

The program concluded by a question answer session with the guest speaker and a vote of thanks by the organizing committee.
