An Educational Visit took place on Saturday, 26th July 2025, at Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology, Rasayani, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. focusing on concrete material testing, to provide students with practical exposure to essential civil engineering materials and testing methods.
Activities Conducted:
- Introduction to Construction Materials: Students were introduced to various construction materials such as cement, sand and coarse aggregates through practical demonstrations.
- Field Testing: Hands-on field tests were conducted on cement, sand, and coarse aggregates to assess their properties and suitability for construction purposes.
- Concrete Mix Preparation: Students engaged in preparing concrete mixtures for M10 and M15 grades, gaining practical experience in mix design and proportioning.
- Slump Cone Test: The slump cone test was performed to evaluate the workability of the concrete mixes prepared by the students.
- Concrete Cube Casting: Students participated in casting concrete cubes, which will be tested for compressive strength to assess the quality of the concrete mix.
This visit provided students with invaluable hands-on experience in material testing and reinforced theoretical knowledge with practical application.
