The 18th lok sabha elections were special, particularly for our youth who were turning 18. It would bring them an opportunity to make their voices heard as well as shape todays and tomorrow’s politics. The ministry of education had organized a campaign “Mera Pehla vote desh ke liye” from 28th February to 6th March, 2024 with the aim to ensure universal enlightened participation of youth in elections.
In view of the campaign, the Anubhuti team of Pillai college of Architecture had organized a slogan making competition. The students of the first years were the youth who were to vote for the first time. The event was organized on the 11th and 12th March, 2024 in which all students actively participated. The main objective of the initiative was to engage and encourage young voters to come out and vote and convey the importance of voting for the larger good of the nation. The initiative symbolized the importance of elections and the pride of voting in the largest democracy in the world.
Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) across the country were supposed to take part in the drive. Designated spaces shall be identified in universities/colleges where the voters’ awareness relation activities will be undertaken by respective institutions. The initiative would witness both on ground physical events and online competitions on mygov platform.
