The NSS Swachhta Pledge ceremony was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from first-year B.Sc. Interior Design and first-year Architecture students. The event was held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, bringing together over 95 students, 35 from B.Sc. ID and approximately 60 from B.Arch — to reaffirm their commitment to cleanliness and responsible citizenship.

The Pledge

The Swachhta Pledge, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India, emphasizes personal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness in one’s surroundings. Students pledged to:

  • Devote 100 hours annually to cleanliness activities
  • Refrain from littering and encourage others to do the same
  • Promote the ideals of the Swachh Bharat Mission in their homes, communities, and workplaces

The pledge was recited collectively, creating a powerful moment of unity and purpose among the participants.

Importance of the Initiative

The event served as a reminder that cleanliness is not just a duty but a way of life. By involving young minds in this national movement, the NSS aims to instill lifelong habits of hygiene, civic responsibility, and environmental awareness. The students were also encouraged to take initiative in organizing future cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns.

Participation & Impact

The large turnout reflected the student,s eagerness to contribute to a cleaner India. Faculty members and NSS coordinators appreciated the students’ active involvement and emphasized the role of youth in driving social change through consistent, small actions.

The NSS Swachhta Pledge event was more than a ceremonial gathering — it was a meaningful step toward building a cleaner, more conscious society. The energy and sincerity displayed by the students set a positive tone for future initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
