Onam is the festival that brings together all communities in Kerela. To this day, caste or creed is not of importance. One of the most popular festivals of India which is celebrated with great zeal. Similarly, activities of this festival are famous all over India for their grand scale like Pookalam and more.

To grace this occasion, the student council of Pillai College of Architecture conducted an event in the ground floor studio. Firstly, there was a Pookalam competition organized which observed active participation. The event was inaugurated by the lighting of a lamp by our Principal, Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar ma’am, accompanied by a few other faculty members too.

The entire vertical of Picans had engaged in the event to embrace it all the more. The event opened with a neat narration of learning about the story of how Onam came into existence followed by a mesmerizing dance performance by the 3rd year Picans.

Moving forward, the student council also celebrated all the teachers and expressed their gratitude with a gift token. A few more cultural performances including dancing and singing were lined up and ended with hearty applause. All the performances took us on a ride deep into the roots of traditional Kerala. Towards the end, everyone shared a great laugh while answering some quiz questions on based on the festival of Onam!

The event was given a proper closure with a vote of thanks by the hosts at 5 pm.

The event was attended by almost 80 students from all the year along with faculty members and the principal ma’am.
