Onam, the traditional harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pillai College of Architecture on 25th August, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. onwards in the ground floor studio. The event showcased a vibrant blend of cultural performances, competitions, and ceremonies that brought together students from all years.
The celebration commenced with lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the arrival of light. This was followed with 2nd year year students showcasing their vocal talents by performing traditional onam song.
Students from different years came together to present skit that highlighted the significance of Onam and its cultural importance. Subsequently, dance performances by 2nd, 3rd and 4th year contributed to the essence of festive atmosphere with their graceful moves and costumes.
One of the most anticipated events was the Pukalam (floral rangoli) competition. Teams from each year participated, showcasing their creativity and teamwork in designing intricate and colourful Pukalams. The celebrations also included a variety of games like musical chair that added a fun and competitive element to the event.
The Onam celebration was brought to end with a vote of thanks and photographs.The event not only celebrated Kerala’s cultural richness but also encouraged inter-year interactions and camaraderie among the students.
