Aim:

The site visit was aimed to enable students to observe and understand practical aspects of Interior Design theories, planning aspects, etc.

Objectives:

  • Analyzing the layout and spatial arrangement of rooms areas to optimize functionality.
  • Examining various materials used for flooring, wall finishes, and other surfaces.
  • Observing the lighting design and its effect on the mood and atmosphere of the space.
  • Recognizing the significance of ergonomic design and its contribution to user comfort.

As part of the Interior Design curriculum, students visited ongoing sites in groups of 6, to understand the practical aspects of the subject. The site in consideration, Mohan Altezza is a high-rise residential building located in Kalyan. Ar. Yogesh Patil’s project involves designing the interior spaces of one of the apartments in the building. During the site visit, Ar. Yogesh Patil elaborated on the various planning aspects of the project. He discussed the importance of space optimization and how it relates to the functionality and aesthetics of each room. The students gained insights into the principles of circulation, lighting, and ventilation that were integrated into the design. The students were given a detailed explanation of the chosen material palette for different spaces. Ar. Yogesh Patil emphasized the significance of material selection in achieving the desired ambiance and how it aligns with the design theme. The use of natural textures, modern finishes, and complementary colors were discussed to create a cohesive and visually pleasing environment. ne of the highlights of the site visit was the opportunity for students to observe the ongoing carpentry work. Ar. Yogesh Patil explained the intricacies of crafting custom furniture pieces to suit the design requirements. He discussed the importance of precision and attention to detail in ensuring the quality and durability of the furniture. The guidance provided by Ar. Yogesh Patil allowed the students to gain valuable insights into the complexities of executing an interior design project.

Outcome:

The students could witness firsthand implementation of interior design theories in a real-world setting. It is expected that the students apply the knowledge gained in the academic project in the semester.
