The January 2020 Tekton-Talks were held in collaboration with ‘Mindscape Festival’ – a public festival of ideas, organized every year by X-Pican, our alumni association and the student body. The latest issue of Tekton volume 6, issue 1 edited by Dr. Aruna Reddi was released at the hands of the guest speakers and the chairman of MES.

We had two talks – the first was by Sudhir Patwardhan, India’s top most artist. Patwardhan discussed several of his paintings that chronicle and comment on the urbanity of Bombay and its outskirts. We collaborated with the ‘New City Limits’ (NCL) – a non-profit group for promotion of arts in Navi Mumbai. Ms. Amrita Gupta Singh from NCL conducted a discussion with the artist post his presentation.

The second event was screening of the documentary ‘Lovely Villa’ by Rohan Shivkumar. It is the name of the apartment building where the filmmaker grew up in LIC colony designed by Charles Correa. This is a film about the relationship between architecture, everyday life, family and memory of ‘home’.

Both events were followed by Q/A from the audience.
