“Tekton-Talks”- is a bi-annual public lecture series as an extension activity of our Tekton Journal.

Architect Biju Kuriakose, co-founder of architecture RED, an architecture and urban design firm based out of Chennai, India. They have won several national as well as international design awards.

The audience of the Tekton-Talk

Biju Kuriakose in his lecture titled, Object and the City – the negotiations, talked about the intersection between architecture and urbanism by demystifying and reconstructing spatial relationships in an attempt to create a “collective realm”. He drew out several principles guiding his practice towards a responsive and responsible urbanism. He demonstrated these what he called ‘first principles’ by way of projects such as a mixed use master plan for the city of Salalah in Oman, housing projects as well as multiple institutional buildings in Chennai.

The session was supported by PiCA Student Council and X-Pican, our alumni association The latest issue of Tekton volume 7, issue 2 was released at the hands of the guest speaker Ar. Biju Kuriakose and Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar.
