HVAC is one of the most important services and there have been many innovations in this domain regarding making the systems more viable and cost effective. It is important to have thorough understanding of this topic for our faculty and students. We accepted invitation by Hitachi to go for 1 day training session at their premises at Chandivali where various HVAC systems were displayed. They provided a training session based on following topics :
- Basics of heat and heat transfer
- Basics of Refrigeration and air conditioning
- Major parts of an air conditioning
- Refrigerants
- Types of air conditioning system – (DX & Chilled water)
Training Session Minutes:
Mr. Pavankumar Valmik (General manager Sales Engineering) from Hitachi welcomed the students to the workshop. He introduce the students with the AC equipment laboratories at Hitachi excellence center. Various different types of AC – ducted, split, VRF. He also explained the various testing process which are carried out in there center. He handed over the session to Mr. Prabhakar for the theory.
In theory sessions he explained basic concepts of HVAC in great details. The main topics covered were:
- Basics of heat and heat transfer
- Basics of Refrigeration and air conditioning
- Major parts of an air conditioning
- Refrigerants
- Types of air conditioning system – (DX & Chilled water)
Knowledge about practical implementation of HVAC systems was shared and there were discussions between PiCA faculty, students and Hitachi team about the same.
After lunch they took us on a tour of seeing all the AC equipment laboratories at Hitachi excellence center. Various different types of AC – ducted, split, VRF were all displayed in a working condition. A detailed explaination of each system’s working unit was given. Students and faculty had several questions and doubts about air conditioning. All the queries were answered by Mr. Prabhakar.
In the end the Mr. Prabhakar also explained how the systems are Energy Efficient.
