The Vachan Prerna Diwas event was inaugurated by Professor Aarti Mankame, who shared valuable tips on effective book reading, especially targeting newcomers for their future development. She underscored the significant role of reading in personal growth and skill acquisition. Professor Mankame recommended exploring books on diverse subjects such as World Politics, Environment, Climate, and Politics. This Event was organized under PiCA’s Book & Movie Club.
Commencing the event, Aarti Ma’am shared her favorite poem, “ONE ART” by Elizabeth Bishop. The poem eloquently expressed the art of losing things and the unpredictability of plans. A poignant reflection on losing people and places resonated with the audience, capturing the essence of life. Particularly impactful were the lines, “As we grow up, we start losing people; Losing someone dearest is a very difficult feeling.” The central theme, “The Art of Losing Isn’t Hard to Master,” left a lasting impression.
Following Aarti Ma’am’s captivating poem, Prathmesh Sir took the stage to discuss the skills acquired through reading and their applicability in architecture. He then recited “Jaya,” a translated version of the Mahabharat, offering motivational insights to the students. Concluding his session, Prathmesh Sir provided a brief yet insightful explanation of life.
Next, Suvarna Ma’am delivered a unique perspective, sharing that while they weren’t currently reading anything, they had selected motivating books for their future. Ma’am recommended books like “STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOOLISH,” “THE COURAGE TO BE DISLIKED,” and “LETTERS TO A YOUNG ARCHITECT” by Christopher Benniger. Drawing from the third chapter of the latter, Ma’am highlighted essential points, including being authentic, letting your work speak for itself, embracing criticism and praise, and trusting your teachers for guidance.
Moving on, Bhide Ma’am presented a Marathi poem titled “TRUST OF GOD,” emphasizing the crucial role trust plays in life. Saroj Ma’am shared valuable insights, encouraging students to observe their surroundings, persevere after failures, and recognize the transformative power of innovation in society. Concluding with motivational lines, Ma’am wrapped up her session.
The final reading was delivered by Avinash Sir, who imparted strong motivational lines, urging students to overcome their fears and not fear rejection. With these inspiring readings, the session came to a close, leaving the audience enriched and motivated.
