When our world revolves around technology, it is important that we know to guard ourselves from its predators. Cyber security is a practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks and data from malicious attacks.
Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with Institute’s Council (IIC) and Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) had organized a seminar on Cyber security with guest speaker Mr. Jitender Malik who is a Manager (management services, finance, HR) at Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd. (HOCL). Around 53 students along with faculty members attended the seminar and got enlightened about the threats that technology brings along with it. Members of Bharat Vikas Parishad Mr. Girish Samudra who is an Industrialist, Dr. Kirti Samudra who is a diabetologist and also in charge of Mahila and Bal Vikas Parishad, Commander Deepak Jambekar, Major Umakant Sharma also attended the seminar.
The session started with the tribute to our nation by singing Vande Matarm song sung by Mr. Girish Samudra and later with introduction of our guest speaker, who then presented and spoke about various types of cyber threats a system can cause and how it is spread through various gadgets using internet. He threw light on the relevance of cyber security with Architecture in which he highlighted points like how an intellectual property be protected, compliance of industrial standards, protection of personal information and what are the career opportunities if you chose cyber security as an education field. He also acknowledged about various techniques for preventing cyber threats. The presentation ended with a question answer session where students asked questions about mobile threats and some mobile banking threats. The seminar concluded by a vote of thanks after which our guest speaker was felicitated with a token of appreciation for his guidance on an important aspect in the growing technological world.
