Online EVENT and Competition By Social Media Team and Photography Club
On 19th August, 2023, in commemoration of World Photography Day 2023, the social media team and Photography Club at PICA initiated a captivating architectural photography competition for college students. The theme, “Understanding Clouds through Lens,” was chosen to celebrate the remarkable talent and passion that individuals exhibit in the field of architectural photography.
To mark this special day, Pillai College of Architecture hosted an online photography competition, which brought together architecture students from various colleges in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. The event took place exclusively through Instagram and Google Forms. The competition was expertly supervised by Prof. Tushara Kaliyath; Social Media Head and Photography Club Head. A distinguished panel of judges, consisting of Ar. Deepshikha Jain and Ar. Mallika Keer, diligently assessed the submissions in two distinct categories: The first category was open to all architectural students, while the second category welcomed participation from ex-students, faculty members, and industry professionals. An impressive total of 228 entries were received in the student category, while the professional category garnered 13 entries. From these entries, the judges shortlisted the top 10 submissions in each category. The final winners were determined through a combination of judge-based selection for the student and professional categories and an Instagram story poll for the Popular Choice student category.
Following a thorough evaluation of each submission, the winners were announced, bringing the event to a fitting conclusion. In Category 1, the standout winners were as follows: Winner – Aniket Gupta from Bharti Vidhyapeeth College Of Architecture, Navi Mumbai; 1st Runner-up – Yuganta Bhoir from PiCA; 2nd Runner-up – Siddhant Morye from PiCA; and Popular Choice Winner – Geeta Choudhary from PiCA.
In Category 2, designated for professionals, the victors of the Architectural Photography Competition 2023 were recognized as follows: Winner – Tushara Kaliyath, PiCA Faculty; 1st Runner-up – Ronak Majetha from PiCA, batch 2018-23; and 2nd Runner-up – Khush Goyal from PiCA, batch 2018-23.
The accomplished winners were honored by showcasing their winning submissions on PICA’s Instagram page, highlighting their outstanding contributions to the world of Architectural Photography.
