Kinesthesia was finally here! PiCA organised Kinesthesia every year but due to Covid 19 it was not possible to conduct, so this year it was offline classes we decided to have hands on workshop for 5 days for all the years along with faculties. The workshop were arranged day wise.

The workshop list are listed below

  2. Origami workshop
  3. Furniture design workshop
  4. Hands on wheel workshop
  5. Fluid art
  6. Mural wall painting workshop

Workshop were conducted by senate student council it was headed by Event secretary Pallavi Taori, she has coordinated with all the Workshop conductor. Breakfast, Tea and lunch were provided for the entire workshop conductor.

Day 1
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Making and Breaking Bridges

The event all PiCANs were awaiting was kick-started with a very fun workshop making and breaking of bridges. This workshop took place for the 1st and 2nd year students on the 6th February, 2023 in the ground floor studio. The duration of this workshop was of around 2.5 hours from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Sasmit Acharekar and Prof. Prashant Borge and the senate co-ordinators were Nitesh Bane and Saloni. 60 students have attended this workshop. The professors briefed the students about the workshop and also explained the concept of bridge making its strength, Span and bending moment of that structure. Students were given a task to make bridge using wooden sticks to be achieved within a given time constraint.

The workshop concluded by appreciating the various installations of bridges constructed by all participants. Also faculties have worked out the bending moment after applying several forces on top of structure.
Lastly using the structure made by students applied force on that model to see the bending moment at fixed and hinged joints of that structure.

Day 1
8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. – Origami

The student council of Pillai College of Architecture conducted a workshop on Origami in Architecture as a part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 a.m. and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by the guest speaker, Ar. Bobbie Vijayakar sir. A total of around 50 students from the 3rd and 5th years of architecture were asked to carry out the activities. The students who participated were taught to make two different types of caps, a crane, and various other paper folding crafts.The workshop began with a welcome speech and a brief introduction of Bobbie sir. Later he guided the students further about various folds of origami and kirigami. The workshop finally concluded at around 12:30 pm with beautiful outcomes!

Day 1
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Furniture Design

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on furniture design as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 1:00 p.m. and came to an end at 4 p.m. Workshop was conducted by Prof. Jayraj Ghatge and Prof. Aditya Gujarkar. Workshop was attended by Around 50 students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th years of architecture were asked to carry out the activity in groups. The students who participated were asked to bring their laptops with the Rhino 3D 7 software installed in them to make a digital model of the furniture they had chosen to design.

The workshop began with a brief introduction to the use of the Rhino 3D 7 software by Prof. Jayraj Ghatge, who demonstrated a few basic commands and methods to draft drawings in the software. Soon after this, the Professor gave a brief on the furniture requirements and the basics of anthropometry regarding the design of furniture. The students were asked to bring in ideas and concepts regarding what the design of their furniture would be. The workshop finally concluded at around 4 p.m.

Day 2
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Furniture Design

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on furniture design as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 a.m. and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by Prof. Jayraj Ghatge and Prof. Aditya Gujarkar. Around 50 students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th years of architecture were asked to carry out the activity in groups. The students who participated were asked to bring their laptops with the Rhino 3D 7 software installed in them to make a digital model of the furniture they had chosen to design.

The workshop began with working on the software for some time to excel in the designs thought and execute them on the software. Soon after which, the students started working on the process making of the chair. The participants thoroughly enjoyed putting together this installation. The workshop finally concluded at around 12:30 p.m. with a successful installation of a chair ready!

Day 3
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Hands on Wheel Workshop

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on Hands on Wheel as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 am and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by the guest speaker, Mr. Satish Joshi. A total of around 50 students from the 1st and 2nd years of architecture actively participated and were asked to carry out the activities. The students were asked to make different kinds of abstract objects by using clay only and various techniques on how to use it were taught to them.

The workshop began with a welcome speech and a brief introduction of Satish sir. Later he guided the students by giving a live demo of how to use the clay on the wheel and make different kinds of pots using it. He taught every student present there along with the faculty in charge how to make clay pots on the wheel. At last, the abstract objects along with small decorative pots were taken home by everyone.

The workshop finally concluded at around 12:30 pm.

Day 3
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Making and Breaking Bridges

Day 4

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on murals as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 a.m. and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by Prof. Kedar Shinde and Prof. Jayesh Patil. Around 50 students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th years of architecture were asked to carry out the activity. The students who participated were provided with all the necessary materials such as paints and brushes. Every year’s participants had the liberty to decide the mural of their choice and execute it under the guidance of our faculties. The mural took a span of 2 days to get completed for all years.

The workshop began with a brief introduction of the expected outcome of the workshop and how the participants were supposed to go about it. In this workshop, the students got to know smarter ways and techniques to complete art works in a limited amount of time. The workshop finally concluded with overwhelming outcomes, at around 4 p.m.! The experience was very insightful for everyone.

Day 4
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Dance Workshop

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on Dance as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 a.m. and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by the guest Ar. Nimisha Sudheendhran. Students from all the years had actively participated and were taught various dance moves by our guests. The guest taught a 1-minute dance, step by step, to everyone and everyone was having fun along with learning something new!

The workshop began with a welcome speech and a brief introduction of Ar. Nimisha ma’am. Later the session began with a quick warm-up and then the main dance was been taught. After the main dance, a simple 30-second reel was also done by all and it was recorded as well! In the end, there was a freestyle session where many students presented their talents by showing their dance moves along with our guest herself!

DAY 5
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Fluid Art Workshop

The student council, Senate of Pillai College of Architecture had conducted a workshop on Fluid Art as part of the Kinesthesia event. The workshop began at 8:30 a.m. and came to an end at 12:30 p.m. and was conducted by the guest Mrs. Vidya Angolkar. Students from all the years had actively participated and were taught various methods of fluid art by our guests. Each student was given an A-4 size canvas and fluid art kit by Fevicryl for this workshop.

The workshop began with a welcome speech and a brief introduction of Mrs. Vidya ma’am. Later, all the students painted the canvas showing their beautiful talent with the help of the coordinators and the guest. The workshop concluded by teaching 2 different techniques of how to use fluid art on different materials along with the canvas. After the workshop, all the students took their beautiful artwork home. The workshop finally concluded at around 12:30 p.m.

8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Hands on Wheel Workshop
