On the 13th June, 2024, Pillai College of Architecture joyously celebrated “World Environment Day” by conducting a tree plantation drive in the campus.
World environment day is celebrated worldwide for raising awareness about our environment. Moreover, it aims to prevent damage to the environment through human activities and protect the Earth. 5th June World Environment Day serves as a reminder for taking different steps and adopting various ways to safeguard the environment.
As a step towards safeguarding our planet for our future generations, PiCA’s Anubhuti team, Nature’s club and senate council along with students, teaching and non teaching staff conducted a tree plantation drive in the campus.
A variety of trees like Kadamb, Neem, palas, Tamhan and bahava were planted in the campus parking area which provides a huge space for such trees to grow abundantly. Trees were carefully selected to suit the soil and climatic condition of Panvel.
All these trees grow up to a height of 15-20 feet. The foliage cover of these trees provide a dense shade. The flowers are a delight to sight when it is a blooming season. These trees do not need much care as compared to other fancy trees, and can mature in a lesser time period.
The trees were planted by the students, faculty members and non teaching staff of Pillai College of Architecture.
