The B.Sc. Interior Design Fresher’s Event at Pillai College of Architecture, themed “Aliens and Astronomy”, was conducted with excitement and creative flair. Originally scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., the event had to be preponed to 1:45 p.m. following a red alert warning for heavy rainfall. This decision was made after a brief discussion involving faculty members and key council representatives. However, upon reaching the venue, the team discovered a prior booking conflict, which led to the event starting at its original 3:00 p.m. time. This last-minute confusion led to a compressed schedule, causing delays and rushed management on several fronts.
The Event itself featured a diverse range of performances including solo and group dances, musical acts, fashion walk, interactive games, and three rounds of fresher introductions. Anchors maintained the energy of the room, and the creative setup designed by the second-year students brought the outer-space theme to life. However, due to the sudden timing change, several teams faced challenges: the decor team had very limited time for installation and had to redo parts of their setup; games and introductions had to be cut short, which affected the flow; and the hamper packing was incomplete due to the sudden change in the schedule, resulting in little confusion during distribution. The discipline team also found it difficult to manage decorum due to the overall rush.
Nonetheless, the Event was executed with strong teamwork, adaptability, and enthusiasm. Freshers actively participated and brought great energy to the stage, and the support from faculty and seniors helped keep the momentum going. Despite the hurdles, the event successfully achieved its goal of making the new batch feel welcomed and celebrated.
