The design team for this competition largely comprised of X-PiCANs which included: Jinu Kurien, Ajay Pillai (1993), Raj Singh, Amit Dhanawat, Amit Suthar (2002), Rajesh Krishnan (2003), Chaitanya Shahasane (2005).
The award was conferred to us on 22nd September, 2012 after a 3 stage national competition for furniture and product design that was spread over 3 months. This year the competition brief was to design an innovative and premium office suite for senior management personnel. The competition is co-hosted annually by the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) and Godrej Interio.
A total of 38 entries were received, 8 entries were shortlisted for the second round of submissions and 2 entries were shortlisted for the final round where the entrants had to develop life size prototypes of the furniture and products that they designed. The award was presented to DesignWorks by a jury that comprised of senior product design professionals from India and South Korea. Godrej Interio will now develop and retail the product in the Indian market. Godrej Interio will now develop and retail the product in the Indian market. The product will be retailed as a product designed by DesignWorks as long as it is in sale.
