International Women’s Day Celebration on Building Resilience a Key to Empowerment

Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Group of Institutions celebrated International Women’s Day on 6th of March 2019 at Dr. K M Vasudevan Pillai Campus, Sector 16, New Panvel. To celebrate this day, the Women’s Development Cell of Pillai College of Architecture, students and faculty members attended a talk on the theme, “Building Resilience – A Key to Empowerment” by Ms. Nisha Chandak.

The talk was well received and appreciated by the audience. Ms. Nisha Chandak in her address mentioned that it is very important for the girls to accept and love themselves as they are and enable every girl realize their potential to the fullest and feel beautiful inside out.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Pillai Campus. Ms.Jyoti Mhapsekar a noted social worker and founder of Stree Mukti Sanghatana was felicitated with the “Soroptimist Excellence Award 2019” by Daphne Pillai, Chairperson, Management Board, Mahatma Education Society and the Founder President of Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur, an organization that is affiliated to the international body, Soroptimist International that works for the welfare of women and the girl child. The theme of Soroptimism is “Educating, Empowering and Enabling” women to build better lives for themselves.

In her inaugural welcome address on the occasion, Dr. Daphne Pillai, who is also the member of the Women’s Development Cell, University of Mumbai, mentioned that the celebration of this day is symbolic to bring to the forefront the various issues faced by women all over the world. She urged the faculty and the students to focus on the 2019 United Nations theme of the day, “Balance for Betterment” and work towards reducing the gender gap in the society.
