On the occasion of the 750th birth anniversary of Sant Dnyaneshwar, PiCA’s Book & Movie Club organized a special event titled “Pasaydan” to honor the saint’s timeless contributions to philosophy, literature, and spiritual thought.

The session commenced with a brief yet inspiring introduction about Sant Dnyaneshwar and his extraordinary life journey. Prof. Aarti shared insightful information about the saint’s immense contribution to the Marathi language and his seminal work, the Dnyaneshwari—a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita that continues to guide generations even today. She emphasized how Saint Dnyaneshwar’s thoughts and writings, especially the Pasaydan, have left a profound impact on society by spreading the values of compassion, peace, and universal brotherhood.

As part of the event, every participant received a pamphlet with the original verses of Pasaydan in Marathi along with their translated meaning in English, enabling students to appreciate both the lyrical beauty and the deeper philosophical essence of the prayer.

To deepen the understanding, Prof. Aarti invited Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar to explain the meaning of Pasaydan to the students. Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar delivered a lucid and engaging explanation of each verse, skillfully simplifying the complex spiritual ideas into concepts that were accessible and relatable for the young audience. Her crisp interpretation ensured that students could connect with the universality of the prayer and reflect on its relevance in contemporary times.

Following this, there was a collective recitation of Pasaydan by all present, filling the space with a sense of unity, devotion, and reflection.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Aarti, who expressed gratitude to all the participants and speakers for making the program meaningful. She highlighted the importance of introducing students to such great philosophical and literary works, and expressed her hope that the session would inspire them to carry forward the values embodied by Sant Dnyaneshwar in their own lives.

This thoughtful and enriching event not only celebrated the legacy of one of Maharashtra’s greatest saints but also provided students with an opportunity to engage with literature, spirituality, and cultural heritage in an immersive way.
