HVAC is one of the most important services and there have been many innovations in this domain regarding making the systems more viable and cost effective. It is important to have thorough understanding of this topic for our faculty and students. We accepted invitation by Hitachi for the webinar which they arranged for us.

They provided a training session based on following topics:

  • Basics of heat and heat transfer
  • Basics of Refrigeration and air conditioning
  • Major parts of an air conditioning
  • Refrigerants
  • Types of air conditioning system – (DX & Chilled water)

Program:
11.00 a.m. – Webinar inauguration
11.00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Presentation
12.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m. – Question answer session

Training Session Minutes:
Mr. Prabhakar Mhaskar (Faculty) & Mr. Nitin Karnik (General manager Sales Engineering) from Hitachi took us on a virtual tour of air conditioning. Various different types of AC – ducted, split, VRF were all displayed in a working condition.

Students and faculty had several questions and doubts about air conditioning.

Mr. Prabhakar then explained that he will start the theory sessions for a thorough understanding of air conditioning.

In theory sessions he explained basic concepts of HVAC in great details.

The main topics were:

  • Basics of heat and heat transfer
  • Basics of Refrigeration and air conditioning
  • Major parts of an air conditioning
  • Refrigerants
  • Types of air conditioning system – (DX & Chilled water)

Knowledge about practical implementation of HVAC systems was shared and there were discussions between PiCA faculty, students and Hitachi team about the same.
