In the coursework of Humanities 5, the students were required to have an understanding of the architectural production in the country and significant architects practicing since independence.

It was decided to celebrate the World Architecture Day 2023, by showcasing 75 Indian architects in the 75 years since independence. This was done by systematically studying these architects and mounting a public exhibition to benefit all the students in the campus.

A selection of 75 architects who practiced in India in the post-independence phase was made by Prof. Smita Dalvi, beginning with the early pioneers and ending with some significant young practices doing exciting work today in the country. 1 A3 slide in a prescribed format was made per architect. The sheet contained a very brief description of the practice, thumbnails of key projects, and 1 or 2 projects in detail. The A3 size printouts were compiled and arranged in the order of older generation to younger generation of architects.

The work was quite appreciated by all the visitors, particularly the parents of 1st year students who were on the premises for the induction day.

Event Schedule:

3rd to 8th October: Compiling the material for the exhibition and completing the sheets
9th October: Putting up the exhibition in the ground floor studio.
10th October: Exhibition was open for everyone to visit and view.
