On the Account of World Photography Day, Photography Workshop was organized for the year 2023-24, conducted online via Google Meet, aimed to introduce architecture students to the art of photography. The workshop conducted and Organized by Social Media Team, Photography Club and Senate for All the students of PiCA and Other colleges, which started at 10:30 a.m., began with a warm welcome from Professor Tushara Kaliyath and 2nd-year student Sanskruti Patil. They introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Mangesh Mhadavde, who shared his professional journey, setting the stage for an enriching learning experience.

Mr. Mhadavde’s comprehensive presentation covered a wide array of essential photography topics. He started by explaining the fundamentals of photography, including concepts like aperture, shutter speed, ISO and composition. This foundational knowledge provided participants with a solid understanding of how these elements interact to create compelling images.

Participants were then introduced to various camera types, from DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, and learned about essential accessories such as lenses, tripods, and filters. This insight into camera equipment equipped them with the necessary tools to enhance their photography. Exposure control was a key focus of the workshop. Attendees gained proficiency in adjusting settings like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to achieve their desired photographic results. Additionally, they explored composition techniques, including the rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, and perspective, all vital for creating visually appealing images.

Understanding the role of lighting in photography was another critical aspect covered during the workshop. Participants delved into different types of lighting, from natural to artificial and studio lighting. Techniques for manipulating and controlling light to achieve specific effects were also discussed.

The workshop introduced participants to various camera modes, including manual, aperture priority, shutter priority, and program mode. This knowledge empowered them with creative control over their camera settings and photography. Post-processing was another significant topic covered. Participants learnt how to edit and enhance their photos to unlock their full potential.

Lastly, the workshop explored different photographic genres, such as portrait, landscape, interior, commercial, macro, street and wildlife photography. This allowed participants to explore their unique interests and preferences within the diverse world of photography.

One of the workshop’s highlights was the interactive session where Mr. Mangesh Mhadavde encouraged Students to share their doubts and work with the group. This provided a valuable opportunity for participants to receive feedback from both the instructor and their peers, fostering a spirit of continuous improvement in their photographic skills.

The World Photography Day Workshop concluded with heartfelt thanks from Professor Tushara Kaliyath and 2nd-year student Sanskruti Patil to Mr. Mangesh Mhadavde for his expert insights and invaluable contributions. The workshop left participants inspired and well-equipped to explore and excel in the art of photography, a valuable skill for future architecture professionals.

The Workshop was free for PiCA students and Registration Fees of 100 rs was for other college students.
